Any tips for grocery shopping on a tight budget?
Main Post: Any tips for grocery shopping on a tight budget?
Top Comment: Make a menu for the week, (bonus if you can make meals around the grocery store's loss leaders) make your list from the menu, don't deviate from the list. Eat before you shop, and if you partake in the devil's lettuce, do not do it before you shop.

Subreddit for shopping advice
Main Post:
I've been shopping for a lot of new things lately, and I really want a dependable source of advice and shopping criteria to look for. (Non-commercial advice. A simple Google search will spam me with corporate clickbait blogvertisements. I want useful advice from real people!)
Examples: pillows. What's the best thing for side sleepers vs back sleepers? What materials should I consider? Feather? Cotton? Memory foam? What about cooling materials? Is ____ just some buzzword that I should ignore? Best stores to choose from? Stores with trial periods? How do I even know if I'd sleep better with a soft or firm pillow?
Other examples:
Rechargeable batteries. What specs make for a quality battery? Do rechargeable ones always die faster than disposable ones? What should I look for if I want to avoid battery acid leaks? Is the cost worth it?
Gaming headsets. What frequencies make for a good sound? What about for the microphone? What features minimize background noise? Is 7.1 surround really a thing for headphones? How does noise cancelling work and how do I know if it's REAL noise cancelling? How much should I expect to pay for a durable set? For God's sake, WHY do so many of these things come with an extra USB cable that JUST powers some annoying blinking LEDs?

You should make one.
Grocery Shopping Tips?
Main Post:
I know this is a topic that has been discussed numerous times most likely and I have googled it a ton but always get the same answers that I feel does not really help my particular situation.
So, to preface, my husband and I live with my parents (totaling four people in the house) and we get $347 a month in SNAP benefits. The arrangement that was made with my parents is that in lieu of paying rent, we help out with groceries, which is fine. However, it seems that when we do buy groceries and use the whole amount in two or three trips, what we get is enough for one to one and a half weeks tops. I try to coupon where I can, but we buy a lot of store brand stuff plus I'm not very good at it to begin with. Plus, it doesn't help that both my parents do not like rice or beans, which I feel like cuts my options considerably. If it were just my husband and I, it wouldn't be a problem because we love both and I can chow down on bean and cornbread for a few days.
Really, I'm looking for ways to get the most for my money and make it last at least two and a half weeks. I try to make meal plans since I do the bulk of the cooking (my mom can't season anything to save her life so I've taken that task over) and it mostly consists of chicken dishes. I just can't understand how that much money only buys enough for such a short period of time...WTH am I doing wrong?
Also, for reference, I live in North GA and have access to a Kroger, Ingles, IGA,Wal-Mart, and Save-a-Lot (though I try to stay away from the latter because their food isn't exactly the freshest...)
Thanks for reading and sorry if I got confusing...
Edit: a word.

- don't buy junk food. There's no nutritional value and one can sit and eat it forever (I.e chips) 2) buy staple items. I never buy for specific recipes because you'll buy a bunch of ingredients that will go bad before you can use them again. 3) compare price per oz/lb. when shopping. Especially withb fruit. Some weeks frozen fruit might be cheaper than fresh. 4) if there is a SUPER SALE on an item, stock up and freeze what won't be used immediately. Lastly, in MN our foodstamps can be used at the farmers market and they'll match you up to $5. So $10 worth the fresh food for $5 in stamps. Go near closing time because a lot of stands will reduce their prices to sell it quickly.
Sorry for the format. It's late.
Tips for a 18 year old to save money on grocery shopping?
Main Post:
Just turned 18, and I’m gonna have to start shopping for myself, is there any tips you guys can give me for grocery shopping and such? Or perhaps directing me to a subreddit better suited to giving me advice? I’m really curious on how much should I be spending a month for my food and such.

Learn to cook, preferably from scratch. There are a lot of videos on line.
Shop at Aldi's if you have one, or a similar discount grocery. Look for fresh fruit and non-starch vegetables that are reasonably priced. Pick a protein -- meat, fish, eggs, tofu, etc. If you have a freezer, use it to stock up on specials. Buy a collection of spices and learn how to use them. But don't overbuy -- salt and pepper will do a lot.
Buy cans of beans, corn, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken or vegetable broth. Buy flour, sugar, bread crumbs or panko. Buy oils, butter, milk, yogurt. Buy condiments or learn to make your own.

Tips on how to go grocery shopping?
Main Post:
I find my wife going to the grocery store sometimes 2-3 times a week. Just looking for people’s input. Is it better to go out frequently and spend money on specific meals with small lists or to try and go only once a month? How do you find good deals at stores without driving around to all of them? Does anyone use store apps like Walmart and Smiths does that work well or help?
Top Comment: If you go once a month you're basically cutting out fresh fruits and veggies. I'd say the biggest key to being frugal with groceries is to accurately measure how much food your family can consume before food turns. Or at least having a plan B for the food that's about to turn (aka freezing for stock or desserts)

Tips on how to not get scammed while thrift shopping online?

I would like to buy abbey in her shool’s out outfit. Someone was offering her unpacked as a set with spectra also upacked (creeproductions) for 55$ so i wrote comment under their post and someone else responded instead. This girl dmed me that she also has these two unpacked dolls and for the same price. Its already a deal that is too good to be true but there are two people who offer this good deal?? So i asked for a photo of the dolls with her name and today’s date and she send it to me. But i am quite scared to pay infront. She wants me to use paypal? (We dont really use it in my country so i dont know what is the deal with that) her profile has only two pothos, it could be private but that is suspicious to me. What do you think guys? Do i risk it? Or is it a scam?
Top Comment:
Only use Paypal goods and services, if they say to use the family payment thing, it's a scam.
